Who we are
House & Heirs is a small company set up by people who have spent years in property and watched families find out the care and inheritance rules far too late, usually in a hospital corridor or a solicitor’s waiting room.
What we believe
- People should hear the rules and their own numbers before anyone tries to sell them anything.
- The free routes come first. Over-55s can get a will free through Free Wills Month, and a power of attorney costs £92 on GOV.UK. We say so on every page.
- Decisions about the house belong to the person whose house it is.
- Nobody should be sold a trust to “protect the house from care fees”. It does not work, and it is the mis-selling scandal of this decade.
How we are paid
The free check is free. The House Plan costs £89 once, including VAT, with a full refund within 14 days. Firms of advisers and solicitors pay a monthly fee to offer the check to their own clients. If you ask us to introduce you to a regulated firm and you go ahead with them, that firm may pay us; we tell you before the introduction and it does not change what you pay them.
Our regulatory status
House & Heirs gives estimates and information, not financial, mortgage, tax or legal advice. We are not a firm of solicitors, we are not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, and we are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Where you ask us to, we introduce you to regulated firms, and we tell you first if they pay us.
Company details, insurance and the complaints procedure are on the regulatory status page.
